Clutter-aware Robust Beamforming for MIMO-OFDM ISAC
Abstract
In this paper, we propose a novel clutter-aware robust beamforming design for monostatic and bistatic integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) systems. The robust beamforming accounts for uncertainty in target angles (monostatic) and position (bistatic). We formulate a worst-case signal-to-clutter-noise ratio (SCNR) optimization problem subject to constraints on user communication quality and total power consumption. With the quadratic transform, the problem can be solved using alternative optimization while avoiding the convex-concave procedure induced by Dinkelbach's transform and the rank-inflation problem of the semi-definite relaxation method. Numerical results highlight the robustness of the proposed design in both monostatic and bistatic scenarios. Furthermore, it is shown that robustness can be achieved without significantly compromising the ideal-condition performance.
